What Would You Say?

Mark 8:34-35 “And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.  For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.”

This three-day week at school was incredibly memorable. It was a fast and very busy week, however I was amazed at the number of “stop and reflect” times I had both alone and with my students.

I’m 27

27. It is hard to believe that is how many times this planet has revolved around the sun with me on it. This time of year usually leads me into reflecting on the previous twelve months as I seek to become a better person. This year is no different, and through that process I made a list of the things I’ve learned. Some of them took a lot longer than others and several I’m relearning.

I’m Possible

Are you looking to be inspired; to let your dreams fly and to watch them come to life? This post contains a great video by Jeremy Cowart, professional photographer, and I found it truly inspiring.

The Great Teacher

“A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.” Luke 6:40

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” John 14:26

In a mere six months of teaching, I have realized this: When you learn from the great Teacher on a daily basis, and you surrender your own plans, ideas, or ways of teaching to Him, there is little stress associated with the “job”.

From day one, I prayed, “God, if you want me to do this, please give me what I need each day. Show me how to be a teacher, because I don’t feel like I can do it.”

Telling a Story

Next week I begin a new chapter in my professional career: teaching a night class at a local university.  The class is on Management Information Systems, and is part a business curriculum at the school.

In the world of business, data is used to create information.  This information tells a story, and informs businesses to make decisions that can help them grow, hire more employees, and start a new marketing campaign.  It all starts with the data.
